Second Helpings
Local resident Charlotte Hays has published a new cookbook, Second Helpings, which focuses on creative ways to use up leftovers.
The book contains so many delicious recipes that cooks will undoubtedly be making extra just to ensure there are leftovers to create some of Charlotte's tasty meals! In these tough economic times, however, the thrifty recipes will be particularly welcome as they both minimise waste and save money.
Recipes include "Lamb in Orange Sauce", "Chicken Divine", "Cauliflower Soup" and "Cakey Pud". In addition, there are helpful suggestions for making the most of leftover meat, vegetables and cooking essentials such as eggs, cream and cheese.
Charlotte has kindly donated all proceeds from sales of her book to the Pennoyer's Restoration Fund.
The book was launched at the Pennoyer's Pub Night on 21 November, where villagers enjoyed samples of several delicious dishes.
