The Cafe at Pennoyer's
The Café at Pennoyers opens for breakfast at 9.30 and serves lunches and teas before closing at 3.30 Monday to Saturday. Easy parking and inclusive access make us an ideal destination.
As recent winners of the EDP Norfolk Food & Drink Awards 2014, in the Beautiful Baking Category, we pride ourselves in our range of homemade cakes made by our volunteer 'bake force'. At the award ceremony, held at the Norfolk Showground on Monday 15 September, the judges said:
"Although a very difficult category to choose an overall winner, we were absolutely blown away with the passion, personality and care that goes into every delicious cake baked for the coffee shop. The impact these fabulous bakers have on the local community is clear to see and the team act as proud ambassadors for beautiful Norfolk cakes and bakes."
Our café is different because we are situated in a village. Our staff are all locals, they prepare the dishes in our kitchen and we buy the ingredients from local farmers and growers. Our cakes are mostly made by our ‘foodie’ volunteers. Here is a recipe for our delicious Banana Loaf for you to try.
Morning and afternoon you can choose from scones, biscuits and cakes (citrus poppy seed cake , carrot cake with aubergine butter icing are recent favourites ). At lunch time you can choose from fresh soups, salads and the creative specials of the day perhaps finishing with an ice cream made in our next door village.
The relaxed, smart ambience of the cafe makes it a fine place to meet friends for an informal meal or pot of coffee or tea. In the summer we create a continental café setting where you can sit overlooking the pleasant centre of the village. If you are passing by but don’t have time for a stop off we can provide you with a take away.
We welcome well behaved children, and there is fresh water outside for visiting dogs. Our location makes us a good starting place for walkers exploring the village and for cycling groups we offer a good stop off place with a secure site for expensive bikes.
