The Friend  is a drama based on a 2018 novel by Sigrid Nunez, staring Naomi Watts and Bill Murray.  A writer (Naomi Watts) mourning the loss of her older, male best friend and mentor (Bill Murray) is forced to adopt his beloved Great Dane in her modest Manhattan apartment. Woman and dog navigate their grief together to the surprise of her friends and the annoyance of her building managers.
