Charlie and ‘The Dig’

October 23 @ 19:00 - 21:30

£12.00

Charlie Haylock is one of East Anglia’s leading entertainers . This is an intriguing and sometimes hilarious look behind-the-scenes in the making of the Netflix film “The Dig” . . . a film based on a novel with the same title about the famous Sutton Hoo burial ship and the people involved. Charlie will explain how a potential “scam” email from “The Dig” producer, turned out to be real, and followed by a phone call from Ralph Fiennes.

He will demonstrate his unique method and fascinating way of teaching actors, including Ralph Fiennes, how to master a regional dialect, so it sounds natural . . . and not exaggerated and “put on”. Charlie also includes a dialect tour of the British Isles showing how a deaf person can lip read and tell what dialect it is . . . and the main reason why he was selected to be Ralph’s dialect coach.

Charlie will also explain the extreme lengths Ralph Fiennes took, not only to play Basil Brown . . . but to become Basil Brown. The talk is both very informative and extremely entertaining.

Charlie is retiring from the public eye at the end of 2025 so this will be one of the last chances to see him perform in public. Don’t miss it!

Doors Open 1900 for 1930 start, there will be an interval.
